Ideas to Make Your 16th Birthday the Best

Hello wonderful world of the internet!

So, I will be turning 16 soon. I just had a small gathering with a few friends to celebrate my birthday. My mom had been thinking about what we will do for my birthday for a long time. Three months of non-stop think about what can we possibly do?! So my mom eventually came to me and posed some ideas.

1. A Big Trip.
Is there someplace you've always wanted to go? Paris? London? New York City, maybe? Well, consider this for a 16th birthday. Go to that place you've always wanted to go to. Don't want to go with just your parents? Bring a friend or two!

2. Classic.
Everybody has heard of a sweet 16 party! So, why not have one. It is easy to say no because, 'it's to expensive' or 'I don't want something big'. Well, you don't need to worry. It doesn't have to be big or expensive! Just invite your friends over to your house and get a nice cake.

3. Sometimes Bigger is Smaller.
If your birthday falls on an inconvenient day, or in an inconvenient month; try something small. Ask a friends and family out to dinner, out for ice cream, or maybe out to the bowling ally. Go crazy! Try roller skating or ice skating. Snowboarding or skiing. Sky's the limit! Get some cupcakes or a cake and celebrate. If you can't celebrate on the day of your birthday, celebrate a few days, or possibly weeks, before your birthday. This makes it easy and fun no matter what your doing.

4. Slumber Party!
Everyone likes to have sleep overs! Right? Invite a bunch of friends over for a birthday party and then everyone can sleep over. Lay out a bunch of candy, popcorn, and cupcakes. Snuggle up in front of the TV and watch movies. Play video games, board games and tell stories. This is fun and inexpensive.

These are just a few of the many ideas there are for your 16th birthday! Hopefully this has opened your mind and sparked your creativity! Have fun with it. Think of something you've always wanted to try, or something you've always wanted to do with friends. Turn it into a party and have fun. You don't have to do something big and extravagant. Try something small and simple. Happy Sweet 16 to all of you out there!

Stay awesome internet!

Thoughts of a Teen - Selfies

Hello wonderful world of the internet!

Welcome to the second post of Thoughts of a Teen! Today I will be doing a very touchy subject. Selfies. Now if you don't know what a selfie is then you obviously don't live in the twenty-first century. Or maybe your just one of those people who doesn't take them! In that case your an amazing person and don't let anyone tell you otherwise! Now I'm not saying that people who do take selfies are not awesome. What I'm saying is that... Well almost every has taken selfies. So if your a person who doesn't take selfies, you're a rare breed of person!

Now on to the subject of selfies. So many people have questioned this subject on social media. The main questions I have seen are: Are selfies stupid, and are selfies self centered? I have looked at debate websites and other social media sites. From the debate sites I have seen the people are pretty evenly split up. The majority of people did say that they are indeed stupid. As of today that subject is split 57% to 43%. The 57% saying that they are stupid.

Though many people say that selfies are stupid there is something very important to take notice of. You see, there are many different kinds of selfies. Four main types to be exact.

1. The sexy selfie.
This selfie is the kind people take of them self alone in their bathrooms. You see them all the time on Pinterest, Facebook, Tumblr ect. These kinds of selfies are specifically to show off how good you look. You see them everywhere. They go from a girl in an amazing dress and perfect makeup, to a guy lifting his shirt to show off his abs.

Here are some examples. Not like you don't know what I'm talking about, but we're doing this to show the people who don't take selfies. Now for the next kind of selfie.

2. The fun/funny selfie.
These are the selfies that are just to fool around. Maybe your with your friends and are just messing around. Maybe by yourself and did something funny with your cat, or maybe you messed up your makeup somehow. This selfie is just for fun! You can do whatever you want with this selfie without having to worry about how you look or what is going on.

Who knows maybe its your cat taking a selfie...

Cat selfies are the best if I do say so myself. #NoMakeup #NoFilter. Just saying. Anyways, these are the best kind of selfies because, they are fun, random and completely unpredictable.

3. The memorable selfie.
This is the kind of selfie that is reserved for memories only. Maybe you've gotten to meet up with a friend you haven't seen in years. Maybe you visited the Eifel tower. Who knows, maybe you completed a mud run. These selfies are to capture the moments of the great times in your life. Don't want to let go of how good you felt when you completed that 10k of mud and hurtles, well your in luck because these selfies hold onto the moment quite well. Sadly your feelings and emotions don't ACTUALLY get put into the photo, but nonetheless this selfie is to help you remember the awesome things that happened in the past.

This lovely lady, is at the Grand Canyon. A perfect example of a memorable selfie!

4. The necessary selfie.
This selfie is for showing necessary things only. This selfie is strictly to show what something looks like, or what you mean by something. You don't usually pose in these pictures because, they are not to make you look good or capture a moment. Say your texting your friend. You teller that your hair looks great for the prom that night. You try to explain what it looks like. "I did a curly up-do" You say. "I did victory curls in my hair..." You say, but alas your friend does still not understand. So it is time you bring out your best ammunition! The selfie!

The perfect example of the necessary selfie! She is simply showing what it looks like. Nothing more!

Considering all these things, no can really say for sure weather selfies are self centered or stupid. When it comes to saying selfies are dumb, well they can be. If your trying to look seductive and sexy in a selfie you can potentially look dumb. I mean what's the point? We know you're good looking, you don't need to try and show it off. Then there's the selfies with friends. You look really silly and crazy. Do you look dumb in these selfies? Well, yes, but its not the kind of dumb that someone in a sexy selfie looks. Now I'm not saying all people who take sexy selfies look dumb. I'm simply saying that some people do.

So, to conclude this post, there really is no way to tell weather of not selfies are dumb. There isn't really anyway to tell because, the reasons people take them are all over the place. They may be dumb sometimes, self centered other times, and a lot of times its just for the fun of it. So don't worry if you're a selfie taker! Have fun! Go on with your selfie taking self!

But, that's just what a teen thinks!

Stay awesome internet!

Jay- Book?

Whelp. None of you guys ok have actually updated so....here's a story starter? Yeah. Well this is a Magnus Chase and Percy Jackson story soo....enjoy.

Me And Glacier Start A Sword Fight In A Dunkin' Donuts. (Not My Fault..)

You know those times when your walking home and you get those i'm-being-watched-by-a-stalker tingles up you spine? Well, at this moment, I was getting that big-time. Mine was worse though. That was because it was most likely true, due to the fact I was walking through Queens at the time.

Oh, and if you didn't know, my name's Lyra. Lyra Valdez. Annoying Hispanic Extraordinaire. Well, at least by my friend Glacier's point of view. Glacier is my tall, blue eyed, white haired, bodyguard and best friend. Well, more like only friend. Basically, imagine a slightly taller, older Jack Frost and there's Glacier.

The tingles kept getting stronger. If this doesn't sound weird, (and it does), I felt like someone was...touching me? It was mega-ultra-pee-your-pants weird, so I edged closer to Glacier, who was walking beside me.

"Uh...Lyra? You ok?" His voice had always had a slight Scandinavian accent, so the way he talked was sometimes hard for others to interpret. But not me. I'd known him for years, so his voice sounded natural to me.
"Well..um...I got this feeling-"
"Jeez...not again!" Grabbing my upper arm in a vice-like grip, he began dragging me down the street, an annoyed look on his face.
I always got these feelings. Like when I was in danger, for instance. I would feel this...gut instinct. And it always helped. Last time I did it though, that almost got Glacier and me in jail. Not for the first time either. So now he holds some sort of grudge against me.
"Its not my fault! It's just that-"
"Wait." Now, Glacier cutting me off was normal, but this time was different. He sounded...scared? Nervous? I wasn't sure, but all I knew was that it wasn't good.
Pushing me behind him, he began rooting in his pockets for something. A tip about Glacier: he always has something useful in his pockets. Always. So when he started searching, I began thinking.
I had always had a knack for getting out of sticky situations. Didn't matter where we were, who we were with, or what we had, I made sure me and Glacier survived. He, on the other hand, made sure that we didn't get beat up to badly.
The only problem with my ability is it made me stop focusing on the area around me. So when a teenager around my age and a guy with leg braces confronted us, I was anything but prepared.

"Hey. You two."

The guy that said that was muscular, but not burly. His friend, the one with the braces, was lankier, and walked with a weird limp. The one that spoke was handsome, with black hair and sea green eyes. While the other, (who I deemed Leg-Brace Guy), had tanned skin, a goatee, and a mass of dark brown curls on the top of his head.

"Can we...um..talk? Possibly?" Leg-Brace Guy sounded trustworthy, but at the time, all my instincts screamed: RUN! HE IS THE ENEMY! RUN OR DIE!

"Sure. Why not?"

~~~~~~~~~~~
We now sat at a Dunkin' Donuts. Not very secretive for a meeting with a stranger but it'll do. My hands were holding a cup, well more like a vat, of steaming hot chocolate. I'm not a tea or coffee kinda girl. Too bitter.
Glacier, who looked a little too uncomfortable, held an iced latte, while Leg-Brace Guy and his friend both had weird drinks they called, 'nectar'. My first thought was, are that bees that can shape-shift? If they can, that's AWESOME!
"I'm Grover. And that's Percy." Leg-Brace Guy, who had introduced himself as Grover, pointed to the other guy with his thumb before taking a bite out of his cup.
Yep. He bit the cup. The cup literally had a chunk ripped off the side. Beside me, Glacier grunted and seemed to grip something in his pocket. The suspicious look on his face grew.
"We were sent to find you. Well that, or protect you from giants." Percy sounded slightly angry at the job, but I didn't mind. Really, who would want to protect us from...WAIT DID HE SAY GIANTS!?!? Before I could question this guy's sanity, Glacier beat me to it.
"They are called Jötnar. And we do not need help from you, Greek-spawn."
As he said that, he stood and pulled a chain from his belt. Well, it was chain. As he gripped it, it expanded into a 5-foot long staff, just a few inches shorter than him. At the end, another foot-long blade ended in a dangerously sharp point. Percy, who had been calm the entire time, stood and grabbed a weapon from his own pocket. Really, where are they getting these things from!?!
"Lyra. Run. If even they want you, then that means everyone from here to Helhiem is looking for you. I will handle them."
"But-"
"GO!"
Felling confused, I went to run out of the shop, but was stopped by someone grabbing my arm. Turning a full 180 degrees, I was met by the wierdest, and by weirdest, I mean weirdest sight I have ever seen.
Grover, who looked like a normal teen, had ditched his pants and had traded them for...goat legs? Instead of a pair of normal human legs, from the waist down, he was goat.
"WHAT THE-" But before I could finish, I was knocked unconscious by something hitting me from behind.
Well. There you go? I'm tired....goodbye.
Thoughts of A Teen- YA Books
So, my friend, (Elena), doesn't know what a YA novel is. I felt like doing this:
Either this, or crying...
That, in turn, led to this post. Well that, and the fact that no one is posting anymore. (Had to add that last bit in.) So yeah. How 'bout we start with a description first, yeah?
YA stands for young adult. So, when paired with the words novel or book, you get young adult novel. Or young adult book. These books tend to be for kids around 11/12 and up. Basically, teen books. Most include action, romance and slight cursing. They are mostly dystopian novels too.
Now, on to a list of YA books that I know of!!....
  • Maze Runner series
  • Divergent trilogy
  • Fifth Wave
  • Artemis Fowl
  • Hunger Games
  • Percy Jackson and The Olympians
  • Heroes of Olympus
  • Kane Chronicles
  • And more...
Now, I will now 'wow' you all with my fangirl knowledge!! You will most likely have an idea no idea what I'm posting about, but who's counting?
Another Flippin' Story...
Hey all you wonderful people! I'm gonna show you all a nice little thing I typed up a couple of weeks back..(It's actually really sad soo....) Its based on one of my favorite anime characters called Canada. Hope you enjoy! Also a reader insert story....the reader is the other character in this,,,heres a guide to what all those funky things are:
(H/L) Hair Length
(H/C) Hair Color
(E/C) Eye Color
(Y/N) Your Name
*Do not read if you are triggered by suicidal thoughts, blood, and angst...I thought I should warn you...*
If I Die Young... (A SongFic)
If i die young,
He remembered every inch of her. Her (H/L) (H/C) hair and sparkling (E/C) orbs. Her smile that could light up a room and a laugh that could make even the saddest person grin. He missed her. There was no doubt about that. He just wished he could hold her in his arms safely once more. Why she did it, he would never know. No one would ever truly know why she killed herself.
*Flashback*
Canada walked through the unlocked door, mildly surprised. His girlfriend, (Y/N), hardly ever left the door unlocked. She was afraid of burglars.
"(Y/N)? You there?" he asked, a bad feeling coursing through him. To his fear, he was only met with silence. After taking off his shoes and jacket, he hesitantly made his way to the kitchen.
After getting himself a drink, he began to walk around his home, unaware of the knife missing from the knife board. An eerie feeling had enveloped the house once Matthew reached the second floor.
He passed by each room, not even thinking of checking them for his lost girlfriend. As he got closer, the anxious feeling grew constricting around him. He finally reached the bedroom he and (Y/N) shared. Hand on the doorknob, body shaking fro no reason other than instinct, he slowly opened the door...
Choking back a sob, he stumbled backward in shock. There she lay, pale and lifeless on the ground. A large cut running across her stomach. Even though blood drenched her clothes, she still looked beautiful. But now, no breath left her body and her skin had lost it's healthy sheen. Running forward, he fell down beside her, tears running down his face in large rivers. Ever so gently, he hugged her body to his chest, burying his face in the crook of her neck. He felt no pulse. No heat came off of her.
"W-why (Y-Y/N)?! W-w-why d-did y-you do t-this?!" he sobbed as he noticed the knife. The knife she used to end her life. It lay there, as innocent as could be. But it was not innocent. It was stained crimson with the blood of it's victim. Reaching out, he hesitantly grabbed it, contemplating killing himself with the blade that the love of his life used. After a second he regretted it.
"W-why (Y/N)? W-we c-could h-have b-be-en h-h-happy..."
*End Flashback*
Now, one month later, he sat at his desk, preparing her final wishes.
Bury me in satin,
He took her favorite blanket and draped it over her form. To him she looked like she was sleeping. Sadly, he knew otherwise. Small stains appeared on the blanket and he realized he was crying. He had been crying a lot recently.
Lay me down on a bed of roses,
After covering her coffin in rose petals, he had Alfred, his twin brother, carefully place her inside. Leaning over, he planted a kiss on her cold lips. Lips that had been cold for a month now.
Sink me in the river, at dawn,
Him and all his close friends and family stood watching as (Y/N) floated away. He had done as she had asked and sent her away at the river where they had met.
*Flashback*
"H-hello?" Matthew called out to the girl leaning precariously over the edge of the river. She whipped around and Matthew was met by the prettiest girl he had ever seen. Her hair was a (H/L), (H/C) color and shone in the sunlight. Her eyes gleamed a brilliant (E/C). Blushing, he looked away.
"Hi! I'm (Y/N)!" She smiled as she ran up to him.
"N-names M-Matthew." He stuttered in reply. Turning pink, he looked down at his feet, flustered.
*End Flashback*
He smiled sadly at the memory and took it upon himself to finsih her last request. He gently led everyone away from the river before returning, this time alone.
When i die young,
Bury me in satin,
Lay me down on a bed of roses!
Sink me in river, at dawn!
Send me away with the words of a love song!...
He sang, occasionally stopping to hiccup. Tears ran freely down his face, leaving tracks on his skin. A cold hand rested on his shoulder and he turned slightly, expecting to see one of his friends standing behind him. Instead, there stood the ghostly form of his lover, (Y/N). She leaned forward and left a cold kiss on his lips, her body beginning to fade.
Matthew. This wasn't your fault. I love you and I hope you find another love someday. Goodbye and good luck.
As her voice faded into the distance he smiled and raised a hand on farewell.
"I-I love you too (Y/N). Goodbye."
Send me away with the words of a love song.
Thats Canada...
Oh jeez...now i'm c-crying...t-talk t-to y-you a-all l-later....*sobs*
