If I Die Young... (A SongFic)
If i die young,
He remembered every inch of her. Her (H/L) (H/C) hair and sparkling (E/C) orbs. Her smile that could light up a room and a laugh that could make even the saddest person grin. He missed her. There was no doubt about that. He just wished he could hold her in his arms safely once more. Why she did it, he would never know. No one would ever truly know why she killed herself.
*Flashback*
Canada walked through the unlocked door, mildly surprised. His girlfriend, (Y/N), hardly ever left the door unlocked. She was afraid of burglars.
"(Y/N)? You there?" he asked, a bad feeling coursing through him. To his fear, he was only met with silence. After taking off his shoes and jacket, he hesitantly made his way to the kitchen.
After getting himself a drink, he began to walk around his home, unaware of the knife missing from the knife board. An eerie feeling had enveloped the house once Matthew reached the second floor.
He passed by each room, not even thinking of checking them for his lost girlfriend. As he got closer, the anxious feeling grew constricting around him. He finally reached the bedroom he and (Y/N) shared. Hand on the doorknob, body shaking fro no reason other than instinct, he slowly opened the door...
Choking back a sob, he stumbled backward in shock. There she lay, pale and lifeless on the ground. A large cut running across her stomach. Even though blood drenched her clothes, she still looked beautiful. But now, no breath left her body and her skin had lost it's healthy sheen. Running forward, he fell down beside her, tears running down his face in large rivers. Ever so gently, he hugged her body to his chest, burying his face in the crook of her neck. He felt no pulse. No heat came off of her.
"W-why (Y-Y/N)?! W-w-why d-did y-you do t-this?!" he sobbed as he noticed the knife. The knife she used to end her life. It lay there, as innocent as could be. But it was not innocent. It was stained crimson with the blood of it's victim. Reaching out, he hesitantly grabbed it, contemplating killing himself with the blade that the love of his life used. After a second he regretted it.
"W-why (Y/N)? W-we c-could h-have b-be-en h-h-happy..."
*End Flashback*
Now, one month later, he sat at his desk, preparing her final wishes.
Bury me in satin,
He took her favorite blanket and draped it over her form. To him she looked like she was sleeping. Sadly, he knew otherwise. Small stains appeared on the blanket and he realized he was crying. He had been crying a lot recently.
Lay me down on a bed of roses,
After covering her coffin in rose petals, he had Alfred, his twin brother, carefully place her inside. Leaning over, he planted a kiss on her cold lips. Lips that had been cold for a month now.
Sink me in the river, at dawn,
Him and all his close friends and family stood watching as (Y/N) floated away. He had done as she had asked and sent her away at the river where they had met.
*Flashback*
"H-hello?" Matthew called out to the girl leaning precariously over the edge of the river. She whipped around and Matthew was met by the prettiest girl he had ever seen. Her hair was a (H/L), (H/C) color and shone in the sunlight. Her eyes gleamed a brilliant (E/C). Blushing, he looked away.
"Hi! I'm (Y/N)!" She smiled as she ran up to him.
"N-names M-Matthew." He stuttered in reply. Turning pink, he looked down at his feet, flustered.
*End Flashback*
He smiled sadly at the memory and took it upon himself to finsih her last request. He gently led everyone away from the river before returning, this time alone.
When i die young,
Bury me in satin,
Lay me down on a bed of roses!
Sink me in river, at dawn!
Send me away with the words of a love song!...
He sang, occasionally stopping to hiccup. Tears ran freely down his face, leaving tracks on his skin. A cold hand rested on his shoulder and he turned slightly, expecting to see one of his friends standing behind him. Instead, there stood the ghostly form of his lover, (Y/N). She leaned forward and left a cold kiss on his lips, her body beginning to fade.
Matthew. This wasn't your fault. I love you and I hope you find another love someday. Goodbye and good luck.
As her voice faded into the distance he smiled and raised a hand on farewell.
"I-I love you too (Y/N). Goodbye."
Send me away with the words of a love song.
